2/18/2012 UPDATE: I paid $20.99. I see that the price changes from time to time.
Although somewhat expensive, Schiff MegaRed Extra Strength is worth spending the extra money. The bottle does not smell fishy whatsoever. I think that they are very fresh. I felt much better within 15 minutes of taking it. These are very powerful doses of fresh krill. I suggest that you look at Schiff's website and see the video of how MegaRed is made. It is impressive.
